ALLIRA PANEBIANCO (MONIZ)

Credentialed Diabetes Educator

Long before becoming a nurse over fifteen years ago Allira had a special interest in health and wellness but found herself working in intensive care where survivors often have reduced quality of life. With a renewed determination to help people achieve the best health possible Allira completed a Master’s degree with a Post Graduate qualification in Diabetes Education and Management, the key to returning to an evidence based healthcare space that optimises wellbeing.

Allira currently holds positions as a Diabetes Clinical Nurse Consultant at the Austin Hospital, is the Senior Clinical Nurse Advisor at Bolton Clarke and is a fully Credentialed Diabetes Educator with the Australian Diabetes Educators Association. Allira has advanced clinical skills and experience providing expert care to clients with highly complex needs, psychiatric conditions, the elderly, clients from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, clients with complex wounds and clients with disabilities while working as a Diabetes Clinical Nurse Consultant for Bolton Clarke. Allira has helped her clients achieve their goals and positive health outcomes. She does this by supporting clients to plan for their goals, providing customised education and collaborating with their wider healthcare team to ensure continuity of care.

ALLIRA’s approach

While medication management is an important part of managing chronic health conditions, Allira is specifically motivated to help people engage more deeply with lifestyle changes that may be able to prevent, reverse or manage diabetes or related health conditions. Allira is particularly passionate about using her knowledge and skills in behaviour change psychology and the management of emotional health to empower her clients to make lasting changes that will help them achieve and maintain their goals. Motivational interviewing and guided self-determination are just a few of the skills Allira uses when supporting clients to develop their unique pathways to health and wellness. Allira keeps up to date with the latest research especially into new areas that investigate factors such as gut health and epi-genetics and their link to chronic health conditions like diabetes . Allira attends yearly conferences to keep up to date with advances in the field.
